WHAT A busy last couple of weeks of the term!
We are definitely in the thick of a jam-packed final few weeks of term! From carol concerts and a nativity held this week, to a Christingle service, Christmas play, another theatre trip and Christmas lunch still to come, the children are excelling themselves in every regard. It has been wonderful to welcome so many of you into school and church in recent weeks and we look forward to seeing more of you on Tuesday for our Christmas play. Special thanks also to the adults in school who are all working incredibly hard supporting the children with these and many other activities.
It is such a special time of year and I hope that the photos included in the newsletter and on this week’s Twitter feed give you a flavour of how we are spending the last couple of weeks in school.
PRIMARY SCHOOL comparison TABLES 2023
Yesterday saw the release of the national Primary School Comparison Tables for 2023. Whilst we are all acutely aware that the success of a school depends on so much more than a set of results, I thought it worth highlighting a couple of key areas.
In terms of the number of children achieving the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths at the end of Key stage 2, Ferncumbe sits very comfortably in the top 10% of the 267 primary schools across Warwickshire. With regard to pupils achieving the higher standard Ferncumbe sits in the top 5%.

hatton Class
Hatton Class put on the most wonderful performance of ‘Wriggly Nativity’ this week. We were wowed with their singing, dancing and, of course, wriggling!

Last Friday, we celebrated our Victorian Christmas Day. Prior to our celebration, we learnt all about the Christmas traditions that we have to thank the Victorians for. Throughout the day, we made Christmas crackers, wrote Christmas cards and even made some beautiful festive biscuits. We had a fantastic day!

This half term, Year 4 have enjoyed finishing off the week with forest school on Fridays. We have enjoyed wrapping ourselves up in the chilly weather and working in groups to create artwork, birds nests and Christmas decorations! Thank you to the many parent volunteers who have accompanied the class.

Wroxall - Pop Ups Galore!
This week, Wroxall Class have been making pop up Christmas cards with 3 mechanisms: a slider, a lever and a pop up Christmas tree! So Santas are sliding up and down chimneys, shooting stars are moving over clouds and a lovely big tree pops out as you open the card. Brilliant designs and lots of hard work and creativity from everyone. Well done!

Year 3 have been working hard on planning and making their stop frame animations this half term. Click the link above to see them. We made our own prop puppets and learnt about the process. We are still to evaluate our films, but we are so pleased!

We have been overwhelmed by gifts bought in response to our wish list, put together by The Friends in collaboration with the staff at school. LowsonFord Class
This week, Year 6 have been photographing and editing natural patterns found in fruits and vegetables. They have been changing the saturation, cropping the pictures and changing the intensity of the grey tones.
