Lowsonford class visit coventry cathedral’s

‘God and the big bang’ project

Last Tuesday, Lowsonford Class visited Coventry Cathedral to take part in a ‘God and the Big Bang’ project. The children spent the day engaged in a variety of thought-provoking workshops, whilst discovering, discussing and debating the compatibility of Science and Faith. There was certainly much to think about and we came away with many more questions than we had when we arrived! Congratulations to Maddie who was awarded the prize for best question of the day (you will have to ask her!).

We were so fortunate to have Rebecca and Naomi, from the Warwickshire Singing Playgrounds team, in school for the whole day on Thursday. They kicked off proceedings with an energetic and enthusiastic whole school workshop, which was a pleasure to be involved in - they were keen to say how impressed they were with the children’s wonderful singing. Rebecca then spent the morning training our ‘Songleaders’ whilst Naomi visited each class for some more singing activities. During lunchtime the playground was alive with a variety of singing and action games, involving big groups of children, and made all the better as the sun was shining! After school Rebecca led a parent/child workshop which certainly sounded like a great deal of fun and was extremely well received by everyone.

class assemblies

If you haven’t already, please do check out your child’s class assembly date on the school website. This is a chance for children to celebrate some of their current learning with you and and an event to which you are all warmly invited. The dates are all on the school’s interactive calendar (found by scrolling to the bottom of the homepage) for your convenience. Class assemblies begin at 9am and take place in the school hall.

10 children from Year 1 were invited to take part in a team challenge event to work on their sporty skills, such as balancing, rolling and control. They came 1st in the first two challenges and worked so hard to get the tasks done as a team. What a bunch of super stars!!

School Council are holding a fundraising event for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation. On Friday 6th March we are inviting all children to wear something yellow to school, and in return bring a £1+ donation. Don’t worry if you can’t wear all yellow, some other home clothes will be fine.

Further information on the charity can be found here… https://childliverdisease.org/

Fraser Norton (Year 6)

School Council Publicity Officer

The following is a personal message from Darcey Clemons in Wroxall Class, who initially brought the fundraising idea to School Council…

‘Please help me raise money for Childhood Liver Disease by wearing something Yellow on Friday 6th March 2020. The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation is helping to fight against childhood liver disease by providing families with the right information, emotional support, research funds and a voice for all affected.

Two years ago my sister was diagnosed with autoimmune liver disease at the age of 3.  She is the bravest kid I know.  She takes every hospital visit, procedure, constant blood tests, not to mention all her daily medication in her stride!  Some of you will already know Delilah, I’m proud to say that she started our school in September and loves every minute of it.

I wanted to do something to raise money for other kids like Delilah, so please help me to raise some money by wearing something Yellow on Friday 6th March 2020 and by donating a minimum of £1.

Thank you.’
